English
I’m Dr. Jeffrey Careyva, and as the English Department’s Writing Fellow since 2024, I’m here to provide advice and feedback on your writing for any English class.
I have helped students brainstorm, start drafting, and revise assignments in foundational and popular courses like Literature Today, the American Novel, Poets & Poetry, and the Sophomore Tutorial. Simply sign up for an appointment here with your paper draft and prompt, or send me an email if none of the meeting slots work for you.
I provide particular support to junior English concentrators as they research and draft their final papers in the department’s Junior Tutorial Program, in the forms of extended feedback and regular workshops.
My own doctoral work and writing has focused on modern American poetry, disability studies, and media theory — particularly the poets William Carlos Williams, Sonia Sanchez, Theresa Hak Kyung Cha, John Ashbery, and Bernadette Mayer, and video games with silent protagonists.
Whether you’re an aspiring concentrator, a veteran upperclassman, or someone who suddenly finds yourself in an English class with a paper due, please feel free to set up an appointment with me to talk about your writing!
